How can I recieve or take a forklift license??

Hi,:P

I work with this company that has a job offer as just a regular forklift operator and or driver (which will pay more then I'm making right now). The requirement is a forklift license in which the company doesnt pay for or train you. So can I go to the dmv and schedule a class? Or is it a written test? I use to work at a storage place that didn't give a crap and let me ride their forklift if other people needed help?
